The Location of the Bathroom in the House

Where the ideal location of the bathroom in the house…? In the past, people placed the bathroom at the back of the house and close to the kitchen. Many found it uncomfortable and unsettling when they are inside the bathroom and someone is cooking on the stove right next to their walls. Then someone started putting it adjacent to the bedroom and even now the average upper middle house already has a bathroom in the bedroom.

If the bathroom is in the bedroom it would not be a problem anywhere because it is a privacy. Unlike the bathroom that is located in the house and can be used by all family members (residents of the house). Of course the bathroom should be easily accessible by the user.

In the science of architecture, a literature is given on the location of the bathroom in the house. On the basis of economy and engineering the bathroom should be placed adjacent to the kitchen and arranged in such a way that the hole / pipe installation can be used together.

In terms of achievement, the location of the bathroom should be close to the bedroom.

Here are some examples of the location of the bathroom in the house.

The Location of bathroom in the house 1

The Location of Bathroom 1

The location of the bathroom in picture number (1) is between the two bedrooms. In this bathroom the equipment are shower and sink only, while the toilet or water closet is placed separately that can be reached from the corridor. The advantage of this layout is that if one user is taking a bath, another user will still be able to use the toilet because the toilet is separated and the toilet can be used by all members of the house.

The Location of Bathrooms in the house 2 and 3

The Location of Bathrooms 2 and 3

The location of the bathroom in figure (2) is located at the end of the hall adjacent to the parents’ bedroom. The use of the butterfly door on the door of the parents bedroom is aimed so that when the door is closed in the direction of the corridor, the entire bathroom is in the control of the parents. But when the door is closed to the parent’s room, the whole family can use the bathroom, let alone the bathroom has additional toilet separately.

Meanwhile the location of the bathroom in figure (3) is placed adjacent to the child’s bedroom and the parents bedroom. A position such as this provides equal access to each bedroom.

The Location of Bathrooms in the house 4 and 5

The Location of Bathrooms 4 and 5

The location of the bathroom inside the house in figure (4) above is located in the corridor before the parents room and also adjacent to the child’s bedroom. The toilet closet is bordered by a door. The goal is so that when parents are using the main bathroom (in the shower), other family members can still use the toilet.

The location of the bathroom in figure (5) is almost the same as the bathroom number (3), where it provides the same access for every room or occupant of the house.

The Locations of Bathrooms in the house 6 and 7

The Locations of Bathrooms 6 and 7

The location of the bathroom inside the house in figure number (6) is located at the end of the corridor with the stairs. Perhaps for the Eastern Hemisphere people it is a bit awkward because the parent’s bedroom is separated but this is no stranger to the Western Hemisphere people. If the butterfly door in the wife’s bedroom is closed at the corridor then the entire bathroom is in the possession of the parents.
The bathroom arrangement in figure (7) is slightly different from the previous one where in the bathroom a separate shower is added. This bathroom can be used by all family members if the parents open the door that was placed in the corridor.

This “The Location of the Bathroom in the House” is taken from the book Architects’ Data written by Ernst Neufert, whereas this book has become the guideline for architecture college students in the world.
